What Erik ten Hag said to the Manchester United team in the locker room following their defeat in Copenhagen.

Man United would be eliminated from the Champions League if they lose to Galatasaray, as they have now lost three of their four group matches.

Erik ten Hag is adamant that fortune will ultimately favor Manchester United, despite their ninth defeat of the season.

United lost more games than they won after Copenhagen came back from 2-0 down from 3-2 down to win 4-3 in a dramatic Champions League group stage encounter.

The defeat leaves United bottom of Group A with two games remaining and if they lose to Galatasaray in Istanbul in three weeks' time they will be eliminated from the Champions League.

United were excellent until Marcus Rashford was sent off in the 42nd minute at Parken and they regained their 10-man lead through Bruno Fernandes in the second half. Copenhagen equalized in the 83rd minute and 17-year-old Roony Bardghji scored the decisive goal four minutes later. Ten Hag is particularly disappointed that United produced an admirable story for much of the tournament, but came away without a point.

The United boss insists there is still belief that the team can progress to the round of 16. “This team is very resilient and throughout the season a lot of decisions went against us, a lot of setbacks due to injuries.

“Every time there is spirit, there is a fight and I told the boys that things will change, that at some point in the season it will turn in our favour.

“Football is a game of mistakes, I'm not saying we did everything right but I see a lot of positives, even with 10 men we still decided the game. We played very well. In the end, we were disappointed that we didn't get anything out of this because it should have been different.

"Once again, the boys' attitude was fantastic. They fought as a team, together, all on the same page, shoulder to shoulder fighting for every meter on the field. So I don't cannot make any criticism of the whole team about this. "

When a Danish journalist suggested it was an “unfair result,” Ten Hag replied: “Yeah, come on. The first 25 minutes we controlled the game, dominated the game 2-0 and then the red card changed everything and we were down to 10. We were very disappointed. ”
