During their match on Sunday, United officials kept a close eye on both Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic and Bologna midfielder Mattias Svanberg, as the Manchester club looks to sign their summer transfer targets.
These are the claims of the Italian publication Calcio Mercato, which also claims that Svanberg, in particular, has captured the attention of Ralf Rangnick since his time at RB Leipzig.
Having been unable to sign Declan Rice due to financial constraints, United are in the market for a midfielder. Svanberg might be a viable alternative if they are priced out of a move for the Englishman. According to the Times, rice may potentially cost as much as £120 million (via The Sun).
Despite the fact that Svanberg is valued at £13.5 million, he is not expected to be of the same caliber as Rice.
According to Football Critic, Milenkovic has played 19 games at right-back and 29 games at centre-back in the last 50 matches. The versatility of the Serbian defender could be one of the reasons Rangnick is interested in signing him.
Due to the fact that neither Diogo Dalot nor Aaron Wan-Bissaka have clinched the right-back position, Milenkovic may have a chance to force his way into the starting eleven.
