"'If Emefiele Mentions Names, Nigeria Will Explode' – Sources Give Details Of Arrest"

Godwin Emefiele, the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), will not be prosecuted following his detention by the Department of State Service (DSS), according to sources.

Emefiele's arrest, detention, and whereabouts following his suspension on Friday evening were surrounded by controversy.

Recall that President Bola Tinubu suspended Emefiele due to an ongoing investigation into his office, and was then arrested by the DSS.

The DSS denied detaining him in a tweet on Saturday, raising questions about his whereabouts. However, security and government sources told The Whistler that the CBN governor was arrested at 2 a.m. on Saturday from his residence, contrary to earlier reports that he was arrested on Friday.

Multiple sources with knowledge of the arrest claim that Emefiele is still in the custody of the DSS, and that the agency's denial is part of a plot for him to evade prosecution since he will be removed as CBN governor following the investigation.

The source stated, "They are unable to prosecute him because if he begins to name names, Nigeria will ignite." Therefore, he had to be suspended so that they could inform the media that he is being investigated.

He will be asked to depart the country for the time being. Therefore, the DSS must deny that he is in their detention to prevent Nigerians from inquiring about the fate of the CBN governor following his arrest.

"However, the plan is to release him, and he is currently in their custody near the Villa. This is merely a method to eliminate him, and this was the greatest opportunity."

According to the aforementioned publication, the suspended CBN governor knew he would be removed from office during his recent meeting with the president behind closed doors at the Villa, emphasizing that security chiefs would soon be removed from office.

According to a second source, the purpose of their meeting was to determine their exit strategy and nothing else. In the near future, many more chiefs of security departments will be removed from office under the guise of investigations.
