Ogundoyin Elected Tenth Speaker of the Oyo Assembly

Adebo Ogundoyin, the candidate endorsed by Governor Seyi Makinde, was re-elected as the 10th Oyo State House of Assembly speaker.

Ogundoyin served as the ninth speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly.  On Wednesday (today), during the inauguration of the 10th Assembly presided over by the Clerk of the House, Yetunde Awe, the lawmaker representing the Ibarapa East state constituency was re-elected.

Governor Makinde gave Ogundoyin his approval while commissioning the electrification and restoration of electricity to Olorunda Ogunsola and environs and Idi Obi, Karen, and Jigan communities in Ona-Ara Local Government area of Oyo State.

Today, the nomination of Ogundoyin was proposed by Adeola Bamidele of the Iseyin/Itesiwaju state constituency and supported by Babajide Gabriel of the Ibadan North Constituency 2.

As there was no other candidate for the position of speaker, Ogundoyin, the Assembly's highest-ranking member, who joined the legislature in 2018, was elected unopposed.

The 10th Assembly is comprised of 28 members of the People's Democratic Party and four members of the All Progressives Congress.

In addition, Abiodun Fadeyi of the Ona-Ara state constituency was elected as the state Assembly's deputy speaker without opposition.
